GyanSetu Foundation Story
GyanSetu Foundation was born out of a simple but powerful belief — that education, awareness, and opportunity are every individual’s right, not a privilege. Founded by Gourri Sharma (DJ Gouri), the initiative began with a passion to create meaningful change in communities that are too often overlooked.
The word GyanSetu means “Bridge of Knowledge”, and that is exactly what we aim to be — a bridge between those who seek opportunity and those of us who can help provide it.
Our mission
Our mission is to provide access to quality education, skill development, and community/legal support for underprivileged and marginalized sections of society, with a strong focus on maximizing work placements.
Educating Children
Ensuring that young minds, especially from underserved communities, have access to quality education, guidance, and mentorship.
Empowering Youth & Women
Providing skill-development training so they can stand on their own, earn with dignity, and break cycles of dependency.
Supporting Senior Citizens

The Beginning (Our Past)
GyanSetu Foundation was born from the heartfelt vision of Gourri Sharma (DJ Gouri), who firmly believes that true change begins with access—access to education, awareness, and opportunity.
A multifaceted professional, Gourri holds a law degree, has travels the world as a renowned DJ, and also serves as a dedicated air hostess. Through her diverse journey, she has consistently carried one core belief: to inspire people to be independent, to make the most of their lives, and to realize that they truly MATTER.
Her vision for GyanSetu Foundation reflects this ethos—empowering individuals across all walks of life to rise with dignity, confidence, and purpose
In its early days, the Foundation started with small steps: teaching children in underserved communities, guiding women toward skill-based independence, and spreading basic legal awareness in neighborhoods where it was most needed. What began as a personal passion slowly grew into a movement of purpose, built on empathy and collective responsibility.
The word “GyanSetu” means “Bridge of Knowledge”, and in our past, we built the very first stones of this bridge — connecting people who needed help with those who could offer it.
Where We Are Today (Our Present)
Today, GyanSetu has become more than an initiative — it is a purpose-driven movement impacting lives across different age groups and communities.
We stand as a bridge for:
Children: Ensuring they not only attend school but also truly learn, grow, and pursue their talents, building a brighter future for themselves.
Youth & Women: Empowering them with skills of their choice so they can secure dignified livelihoods, achieve independence, and break cycles of dependency.
Senior Citizens: Offering them the care, time, and respect they deserve, while also fostering intergenerational learning by connecting them with the younger generation.
Communities in Need: Spreading legal awareness to help protect their rights, strengthen their voices, and ensure they understand both their rights and responsibilities as citizens.

The Road Ahead (Our Future)
In the future, we aim to:
- Establish more community learning centers across rural and urban areas, as well as globally.
- Expand skill-development and placement hubs for youth and women, fostering true self-reliance.
- Create support networks for senior citizens in cities and towns, ensuring they live with dignity and respect.
- Strengthen legal awareness programs, empowering individuals to understand their rights and responsibilities, and to make the most of their lives.
- Partner with institutions, events, and changemakers to spread education and skills at a larger scale.
